TSL provides a comprehensive scope of recruitment services, with each recruitment tailored to meet organization specific needs. Our recruitment service offering includes the following steps:

TSL devotes energy to understanding an organization’s unique culture, environment, and goals to ensure we get the right match for particular role needs. Specific steps in the process involve:

  1. Individual interviews with the Clarkson HR committee and key personnel Fully understanding organizational needs is the most critical part of conducting a successful executive recruitment. TSL conducts individual interviews with the HR Committee, and/or direct reports to find out more about the position and special considerations, if any. These interviews last approximately 30 minutes to one hour each and identify individual issues that may affect the dynamics of the recruitment, as well as develop a composite understanding of the organization’s preferences. This process helps in developing the Position Profile.
  2. Development of Position Profile Brochure. Following the individual interviews, TSL develops a draft Position Profile Brochure. This profile is developed in partnership with Clarkson, to ensure that it accurately reflects the sought-after job role characteristics.
  3. Outlining recruitment plan and timelines. Based on the requirements of the role, seniority and level of specialization, we develop a recruitment plan and advise on expected timelines.

This stage includes advertisement placement, distribution of the Position Profile, responding to inquiries about the position, and ongoing communication with applicants. TSL utilizes mass media advertisements, personal emails, LinkedIn, personal phone calls to promote positions. Use of multiple channels creates a high penetration rate and ensures we get high profile candidates.

This stage of the recruitment process involves managing the flow of resumes, as well as screening and evaluating of candidates.

Management of Applications
Handling the flow of resumes is an ongoing and significant process. On the front end, it involves tracking resumes and promptly acknowledging their receipt. It also involves timely and personal responses to any questions or inquiries.

Evaluation of Resumes
TSL evaluates and ranks applicants based on technical qualifications, work experience and evaluation of cultural fit with the recruiting organization. This process aims to ensure that candidates fulfil the recruitment criteria outlined in the Position Profile.

Search Committee Briefing / Selection of Semi-Finalist Candidates
TSL provides a comprehensive progress report and presents a selection of approximately 8-12 semi-finalists. The briefing includes summary information on the recruitment process, the candidate pool, and any issues that have arisen, as well as a briefing on each candidate and their credentials.

Reviewing resumes is an important and valuable step in the recruitment process. However, in some instances, resumes can be misleading. They can exaggerate accomplishments or experience. TSL aims to get an in-depth understanding of candidates, beyond the resume evaluation process. This stage includes the following steps:

  • Written assessments – TSL tasks semi-finalist candidates to complete a comprehensive written exercise designed to provide greater insight into candidate thought process and communication styles.
  • Psychometric assessments –TSL uses Profile XT® tool for psychometric assessments. This assessment measures how well an individual can fit within an organization, enabling organizations make smarter hiring decisions.
  • TSL in-person Interviews. Based on the outcome of the written and psychometric assessments, we will invite successful candidates for in-person interviews. These interviews will be conducted by the TSL in-house recruitment experts
  • Search committee briefing. TSL provides each member of the Search Committee with a report on the semi-finalist candidates. The report includes feedback on the written questionnaires, psychometric assessments, and any additional information obtained about the candidate. The purpose of this briefing is to facilitate narrowing the list to 3-4 finalists who are invited for personal interviews.

TSL schedule interviews at a date and time convenient to the hiring organization. This process can be as simple, or as complex, as the organization desires. TSL prepares sample interview questions and participates throughout the process to make it smooth and efficient. Where necessary, TSL assists the Search Committee in making a decision on whether to bring back one or more candidates for a second interview.

Our reference checks verify information such as dates and places of employment, with the objective of providing useful information on the applicant’s work history, a valuable indicator of future performance.
